Ghana Water Company Limited Ends Free Water Delivery.

The Ghana Water Company Limited in a press release on 22nd December, 2020 has intimated that it will end the free supply of water to Ghanaians on 31st December, 2020.

The release further stated that the government would no longer champion the payment of water bills on behalf of the citizens.

“Customers of GWCL must please note,that from hence,the payment of water bill will be the responsibility of the customer,” part of the statement read.

The free water package has been one of the intervention programmes adopted by government to cushion citizens during the COVID-19 pandemic. It is also to facilitate the frequent washing of hands with clean water under running water for at least 20 seconds and also to also to improve sanitation conditions in the nation.
