Four Persons Perish in a Gory Accident at Likpe.

A Kia truck loaded with lumber has crashed, killing everyone onboard at Likpe in the Oti region.

The truck was loaded with lumber from around Likpe-Bala, one of the Likpe communities, and was heading towards Hohoe before the sad incident happened at about 8:30 pm on Thursday, January 14, 2020.

Eyewitness accounts say the vehicle failed brake when it was descending a slope at Likpe-Bakua, one of the towns along the road. The driver lost control and the vehicle crashed into a ditch killing all four persons in the vehicle.

The locals had a difficult time pulling out the mutilated body parts from beneath the mangled vehicle and the woods.

Eventhough rymcitigh.com could not independently verify, residents lamented that the bad state of the road could be the cause of the accident. According to them, that stretch of the road has been under construction since 2014 under the Cocoa Roads Project but there is no indication that the project will end anytime soon.
