Anlo Youth Council has presented items worth over GHS 5,000.00 to the Fuveme R.C. Basic School on Wednesday, December 1, 2021. The items included polished perfumed rice, vegetable oil, quantity of used clothings and six white marker boards.
The kind gesture was done on behalf of the council president by Mr. Silas Aidam. Mr. C.Y. Adzido, the headteacher who received the items on behalf of the school expressed gratitude to AYC for recognising the plight of the girl child in this difficult times. According to him, the food items donated mainly for the girls would encourage their class attendance and hence keep them in school.
It would be recalled that following the devastating effects of the tidal waves few weeks ago along the Anlo coast, the townships of Adina, Salakope, Amutinu and Fuveme were the hardest hit. The R.C.Basic school at Fuveme was destroyed by the sea long ago hence their relocation to a pavilion at Agorkedzi.
The recent tidal waves again destroyed the pavilion and due to this, the school currently operates from a dilapidated structure.
In an address delivered on behalf of the AYC president, Mr. Ken Kpedor admonished the girls at the JHS to be of good behaviour and emulate good societal role models.
He also encouraged them to concentrate on their books and be morally upright. He told them to sleep early and stop chasing after things that they do not need now.
