The four victims of private salt mining site tragedy given mass burial at Laklevikope, Denu- DETAILS!

It was a difficult and a solemn moment at Laklevikope, near Denu in the Ketu South Municipality, as mother and three children who got drowned during a fishing expedition were finally laid to rest. 

The solemn ceremony which attracted hundreds of mourners had the entire gathering in tears as the the four bodies were laid in state. The only survivor was the man who managed to escape by swimming out of danger. 

It would be recalled that sometime last year, specifically on 17th September, 2022, the victims met that untimely death when a routine fishing expedition turned into an unfortunate incident. The mother and three children drowned in a deep pit around the bank of the designated salt mining site located at Laklivikope, Denu. 

The death of the four caused a lot of outrage and the youth of the area followed up with a mammoth demonstration to register their displeasure about the activities of the salt mining company in the area.

The children were aged fourteen(14), ten(10) and eight(8) respectively.
