Brotherhood of Anlo, a fast rising non-political association from the Anlo enclave has taken a swipe at maverick media personality and Metro TV’s Good Evening Ghana host, Mr. Paul Adom Otchere, for his incessant attacks on the Agbogbomefia of the Asogli State, Togbe Afede XIV in recent times.
In a press release on Friday, 10th June, 2022, the group took exceptions to what it termed are disrespectful, disparaging and discriminatory comments made by the media personality against the traditional ruler. The release explained that it is unexplainable why a patriotic act demonstrated by the revered chief should warrant such image-damaging commentaries in the media space spearheaded by one Mr. Paul Adom Otchere.
“The attention of the Brotherhood of Anlo has been drawn to the disrespectful, disparaging and discriminatory comments by one Mr. Paul Adom Otchere, journalist, and host of Good evening Ghana against the Agbogbomefia of Asogli State Togbe Afede XIV”.
The strong-worded statement also went on to say that the kind gesture from the traditional ruler by returning his Ex Gracia to the government should be a feat worth appreciating than the unnecessary attacks it has generated. According to the release, what should be generating public outcry should be the bread and butter issues which need urgent attention. The practice of politicians and some traditional rulers looting the state was also identified as reprehensible.
“At the time that our nation is saddled with issues of unemployment and revenue challenges, Paul should rather be praising Togbe for being so patriotic by returning his Ex Gratia to government and by extension the suffering people of Ghana due to the economic meltdown. Politicians and some rulers see it as opportunity to loot and the state for themselves and families”.
The Brotherhood further warned Paul and his paymasters to refrain from acts that denigrate Togbe and his wonderful reputation. He was also asked to apologize to Togbe and the good people of the Volta Region.
Finally, Togbe Afede XIV was highly commended for donating to the communities affected by the tidal waves.
