President Akufo-Addo has promised all final year JHS students and staff, both private and public schools that his administration will provide them with one hot meal daily.
The president revealed this in his update number 15, on the measures taken against the spread of Coronavirus. According to him, this intervention has become necessary due to the reports received nationwide that some final year JHS students were going to school hungry. He has also tasked the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection to begin preparations to ensure that this becomes a reality.
A total of five hundred and eighty-four thousand (584,000) final year JHS students and one hundred and forty-six thousand (146,000) staff, both private and public schools are expected to benefit from the intervention. This is expected to start from 24th August and end on 18th September, 2020.
