The spokesperson of the delegation, Mr. Victor Gbeho, informed the Anlo Traditional Council about the death of the former ruler. He also used the opportunity to apologize for not following due procedure as stipulated by the Anlo tradition since the former president was a true son of the land.

“It’s unfortunate you had to learn of the passing of your son, Jerry John Rawlings the way you did. We failed to communicate the falling of the big tree to Torgbuiwo and Mamawo early because even before we could organise ourselves to do anything, the news was already out”.

The sad event he said, shook them off their feet and before they could say jack, the news had already gone out. He indicated that it could not have been advertent. He also invited deliberations from Torgbuiwo and Mamawo towards the final funeral rites of the former president.

The Awadada of Anlo, Torgbui Agbesi Awusu II, who received the delegation on behalf of the Awoamefia of Anlo, Torgbui Sri III, noted that the sudden death of the former president has hit hard on the family, the Anlo State, Ghana and the entire world. According to him, he was an asset that would be missed dearly. He was certain that the Council would be there to play its role in giving the former president a good farewell.
