AGOSEC: RECONSTITUTED BOARD OF GOVERNORS SWORN-IN -DETAILS!

Agotime Senior High School held a colourful ceremony to swear-in the reconstituted Board of Governors on Thursday, 21st August, 2025. 

The inauguration of the reconstituted Board of Governors which was under the distinguished Chairman of Rev. Fr. Peter Justice Mawusi (Parish Priest, St. Stephen Parish, Kpetoe), brought together stakeholders from far and near. 

In his welcome address, the Headmaster of the school, Mr. Eric Etornam Sunfra, expressed gratitude to the out-going Board Members for their roles in reshaping the direction of the school as far as academic work is concerned. According to him, a lot of the successes chalked would not have been made possible without their unflinching dedication and contribution for the years under review.

 He also seized the opportunity to appeal for support in order to resolve the infrastructural deficits in the school. Worthy of note are the dilapidated administration block which has become a death trap in recent times, the inadequate bungalows for staff accommodation and the water challenges and its devastating effects on the toilet facilities in the school. He called for adequate measures to be put in place to solve the problems. 

During his inaugural address, the Guest Speaker for the occasion who  also doubles as the Volta Regional Director of Education, Mr. Francis Yaw Agbemadi, charged the school to continue to be a beacon of hope on the education front. He also expressed gratitude to the staff for upholding their core duties which has led to stellar performances in WASSCE for the past years. It was his hope that both the staff and the students will not rest on their oars. He further expressed the optimism that his outfit will continue to support the school in order to make the environment conducive for teaching and learning to thrive. 

Before dissolving the old board, he paid glowing tributes to their commitment to duty over the years. He charged the incoming Board Members to embrace the new challenge and work hand-in- hand to meet set goals and objectives. 

Also in attendance at the inaugural ceremony were, Royals from the Agotime Traditional Area namely; Nene Neur Keteku IV (Konor, Agotime Traditional Area), Nene Akoto Saah VII (Chief Warlord, Agotime Traditional Area) Nene Tu Abri V(Warlord, Agotime Traditional Area), Nene Aliletso Korsorku III( Warlord, Agotime Traditional Area) and Manye Kwawudade II (Paramount Queen Mother, Agotime Traditional Area). They were in the company of some elders from the traditional area. 

In his short speech at the event, Nene Nuer Keteku IV, Konor, Agotime Traditional Area, acknowledged the role played by the school during his secondary school days and charged all the stakeholders to continue to hold dear the responsibility of nurturing the next generation of leaders. He assured the reconstituted Board of Governors of his unwavering support in order to put AGOSEC on the pedestal that it deserves. He seized the moment to wish all candidates writing their final exams the best of luck. 

There were other wonderful speeches from the outgone Board Chairman, Mr. Gabriel Kofi Katamani and Mr. Ruben Akuffo, the DCE’s Representative (District Coordinating Director, Agotime Ziope). The presence of Head of Departments and other important stakeholders from the district and beyond, equally contributed a great deal to the success of the programme. 

In all, fourteen (14) board members were sworn-in to work for another term. Since it is a reconstitution, majority of the previous board members had been maintained. The swearing-in was done by Rev. S. K. Matti(Pastor, Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana, Kpetoe). 

The new Board Members are:

✔️Mr. Francis Yaw Agbemadi, Regional Director of Education, Volta.

✔️Mr. David Kwaku Besah, District Director of Education.

✔️Mr. Eric Etornam Sunfra, Headmaster, Agotime SHS

✔️Rev. Paul Onipanua, General Manager, Live Watch Security Services Ltd. Accra (PTA Representative) 

✔️Nene Tettey Dapaah VI, Traditional ruler and Construction Expert( District Assembly Rep 1)

✔️Hon. Edem Alato, Assembly Member, Amedikpui and Staff, Mafi-Kumase SHTS( District Assembly Rep II)

✔️Mr. Gabriel Kofi Katamani, Commissioner Retired, Ghana Revenue Authority, Accra(Historical Interest/Traditional Authority Representative I)

✔️Dr. George- Grandy Hallow, Lecturer King’s Business College, UK(Historical Interest/Traditional Authority Representative II)

✔️Ms. Shalom Yorm Hallo, Staff, PRESEC Staff Basic School, Madina- Accra(Old Students Representative I).

Music on the day was provided by the school choir, under the tutelage of Mr. Gershon Agor. They sang melodious renditions that added extra fun-fair to the programme. The CEPS Cadet boys and girls were also on guard to provide adequate security. 

The programme was held at the school’s plush “Kente Hall”.
