Ketu North Municipal Assembly celebrates teachers in style- Details!

Teachers in the Ketu North Municipality, Volta Region, Ghana, were celebrated for their dedication and commitment to duty over the years. 

This year’s colourful ceremony, held at the Municipal Assembly Hall in Dzodze, brought together traditional leaders, over 500 teachers, and key stakeholders. Under the chairmanship of Togbiga Dzoku V, President of the Dzodze Traditional Council, 11 outstanding teachers were honoured for their exceptional service, while the MP also donated five motorbikes to the School Improvement Support Officers (SISOs) to enhance supervision and performance across our schools.

In his address to the gathering, the  Hon. MP, Edem Agbana, reminded the house about the genesis of the  award scheme and the challenges facing the teaching profession. He spoke on the number of policies the government is implementing in order to improve upon the welfare of teachers across the breadth and length of the country. 

Amongst other things, he assured that the 20% allowances for teachers in rural areas will be implemented by the government soon. BECE candidates with grades from  6 to 11 were also to receive 100% scholarships from his office. 

Speaking on the challenges, the MP revealed that the over 400 teachers deficit will be filled by newly recruited. He also assured that his office is working assiduously to address the infrastructure deficits in the municipality. Town such as Dorwuime, Zukpe and Penyi were to get new classroom blocks.

He finally expressed gratitude to individuals who have supported the event. It was his hope that teachers would continue to inspire the next generation as expected. 

According to details, the MP’s Special Education Awards has redefined how excellence in education is celebrated and honour those who dedicate their lives to nurturing young minds.

As part of the celebration, the Municipal Chief Executive, Martin Amenaki(Hon) presented a cheque of GH₵10,000 to the Headmistress of Dzodze R.C. Demonstration School, who also received a television set and a mobile phone in recognition of her selfless dedication to the teaching profession over the years. 

The MCE also paid glowing tribute to the visionary MP, Hon. Eric Edem Agbana, for his remarkable efforts in making sure that the programme was a success. 

There were other high profile speakers in attendance at the event. Notable amongst them was Mr. Bismark Tay, a licensed NTC service provider. He shared valuable insights with participants as a way of encouraging them to do more.
