The President of the Repuplic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in a press release on Sunday, 9th August 2020, directed the Minister for Education, Hon. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, to engage GES to reconsider its decision to ban some fourteen (14) dismissed final year students from continuing this year’s WASSCE.

The President, is of the view that dismissal alone is a solid punishment which could go a long way to discourage others who may harbour such ambitions in the future.

“Even though the acts of indiscipline by these students are intolerable acts which have led to their subsequent dismissal from school, President Akufo-Addo is of the firm view that dismissal alone is enough punishment, and will serve as enough deterrent against future acts of indiscipline “

the statement added.

While condemning the acts, the president posited that, everyone deserves a second chance in life and he is optimistic that there will be a change of mind from GES.

He finally agreed that all other decisions taken and imposed by appropriate bodies remain intact.

The despicable show of unruliness by some final years writing this year’s exams has become a topical issue in the past days.
