Many eyes are on Ketu South Constituency forgetting about some other constituency in the Volta Region that has seen a sharp increase in the number of Registrants.
In today’s article, the focus will be on the Afadzato South Constituency.
Afadjato South is one of the constituencies represented in the Parliament of Ghana . It elects one Member of Parliament (MP) by the first past the post system of election. Afadjato South is located in the Afadzato South district of the
Volta Region of Ghana . It was created in 2012 by the Electoral Commission of Ghana prior to the Ghanaian general election .

Today the Constituency has registered over 30000 registrants in the Constituency.
The Electoral Officer of the constituency, Mr. Michael Owusu Amoh said, the Registration Exercise held in the district was general peaceful and “incident free”.
According to Mr. Michael Amoh, the voter registration exercise was conducted in a very condusive environment and went ahead to give the Registration Officials 95%.
Mr. Amoh, in an interview disclosed that a total of 35,240 registrants were captured by the Electoral Commission at about 84 registrants in the districts.
He stressed that, 24347 registrants representing 69.1 percent use the Ghana card, 217 representing 0.6 per cent used passport to register, and 10,676 representing 30.3 used the guarantor system.
The Electoral Officer further stated that 45 challenge cases were recorded on the grounds of underage, non-citizen and non-resident. Out of this figure, 33 were disqualified and 12 cleared.
In the special registration carried out at the electoral commission’s office, 829 registrants which comprises of 242 disabled and 587 traumatized people.
After the registration, 1,999 of the registrants were first time voters throughout the district.
The number of those who turned 18 years and got registered were 1,082 made up of 588 males and 494 females.
The constituency is a growing one that can rise to equal the status of Ketu South Constituency.
