Tourism they say is wealth and any country that makes it a priority has a lot to gain. To be development-oriented is to turn the little that nature has given you into gold.

Undoubtedly, Volta Region has garnered some clouts in the tourism industry due to its numerous tourist attractions. One of its newest addition to the plethora of tourist sites in the region is the Ave Crocodile Resort, located in Ave- Dakpa.

Ave-Dakpa is a town found in the Akatsi North District of the Volta Region of Ghana. Being the district capital, the indigenes are mostly farmers and petty traders.

Revealling the story behind the establishment of the resort, Mr Mensah Dokli confirmed to rymcitigh.com that the development of Ave Crocodile Resort at Ave Dakpa was on the table for some time but it finally took off in 2017, under the leadership of Hon. Dr. Prince Sodoke Amuzu, the District Chief Executive. According to him,  the resort has been designed to generate some funds internally since the district has low commercial and industrial sector. It was the Assembly’s innovativeness to improve the IGF that brought about this huge project.

The caretaker of the resort also spoke about other side attractions designed to make the place comfortable for patrons. According to him, the last phase of the project which includes building of hotels and restaurants in the area to make the tourist site fully operational is to be handled through Private Sector Participation.

Currently, Mirage (a private investor from Ho) has established a refreshment center at the resort.

Though the resort is new, the Assembly is happy that their plans have seen the light of day. The indigenes are also excited about the side attractions that the resort would bring to the community. Just like the proverbial Oliver Twist, the Assembly is asking for more genuine investors to come and invest in the area by constructing cultural village, hotels, restaurants and children’s park to augment the already existing ones.

You do not need to travel all the way to the north for the unforgettable experience of viewing crocodiles. Everything you need is at your doorstep now. Come and relive the experiences all over again and help boost the tourism potentials of the Volta Region.

The crocodiles at the resort are friendly, well tamed and ready to socialize with visitors. They can be touched without the fear of being harmed.
