Residents of Mafi-Agoe, a town located in the Central -Tongu District of the Volta Region of Ghana, are demanding justice for Madam Patience Amu, a 50-year-old grocery seller who was inflicted with machete wounds leading to her death while being transported to the hospital.
The suspect, one Idriss Bukari, believed to be in his 20s, secretly entered the deceased’s room and allegedly inflicted machete wounds on her. According to accounts available to rymcitigh.com, the suspect, who is a Fulani herdsman, was a customer of Madam Patience Amu.
It was alleged that the suspect had some disagreement with the deceased about the activities of his cattle on her farm. Things got heated and later, the suspect attacked Madam Patience in her room while she was asleep.
A brother of the deceased, Edem Amu, was also attacked by the suspect after he responded to screams coming from the sister’s room. He reported that the suspect, Idriss Bukari, attacked him while he attempted rescuing the sister. Sources say that the alleged murder happened on 14th October, 2020. Edem Amu is however said to be responding to treatment at the hospital.
Mr. Idriss Bukari surrended to the police and admitted to the offence. He was arrested and charged with murder.
He was later arraigned and remanded into police custody. He is to reappear before the court on November 16, 2020.
