Communities affected by the mining activities of Seven Seas Salt Ltd are crying foul over lack of due process in the payment of the compensations due them.
Some Assembly members of the Ketu South Municipality on behalf of their community members have in a press statement, registered their displeasure about the disbursement of some compensation packages to their communities.
A statement sighted by rymcitigh.com which was signed by six affected Assemblymen including Hon. Sylvester Kumawu, their convener, revealed that the said package was to compensate the communities affected by the mining activities of Seven Seas Salt Ltd. However, it became evident that the processes laid down for the settlement as agreed upon by the interested parties were not followed, hence the decision to go public with the whole issue.
A total of six Assembly members are demanding for answers as to why monies meant for the people are paid into an individual’s account.
