The staff and pupils of Gbefi United R/C Primary School in the Kpando Municipality are grateful to NGO and infrastructure kings, Pencils of Promise for coming to their aid.
According to details available to rymcitigh.com, the new classroom block which also includes sanitation facilities was officially handed over to the school on Thursday, 5th August, 2021.
The Headteacher of the school, Madam Asiome Anku in her welcome address, expressed appreciation to God for making the project see the light of day. She also used the opportunity to pay glowing tributes to the NGO, Pencils of Promise for their benevolence and thought through intervention. According to her, the new 4-unit classroom block and its accompaniments would go a long way in promoting issues of academics in the school.
Mr. Freeman Gobbah, Country Director of Pencils of Promise tasked the school authorities to take proper care of the facilities . According to him, his outfit is always ready to help contribute to the academic issues in the Volta Region. He further announced that Pencils of Promise had completed 183 classroom blocks so far with 13 nearing completion.
A representative of the Municipal Director of Education for the Kpando Municipality thanked the NGO specially for always contributing their quota to the development of the education sector. It was his hope that the project would be properly taken care of in order to serve its right purpose. He also encouraged the school to ensure that there is inclusive education at all levels in order to harness the potentials of the pupils.
Other dignitaries who graced the occasion were the Queen Mother of Gbefi, Mama Vidzexornu III, Project Manager of PoP, Mr. Anthony Quarshigah, Community Engagement Officer of PoP, Mr. Xenyo Francis amongst others.
The beautiful ceremony was under the chairmanship of the Paramount Chief of Gbefi Traditional Area, Togbega Akom VIII.
There were performances from the Elame Borborbor Band and choreography from the pupils to keep the place lively.
