It was a night of joy for Lionel Messi as he scored his first ever goal for Paris Saint Germain on Tuesday night against Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League. The little Argentine genius curled the ball beyond Manchester City goalkeeper, Ederson after being teed off by a Kylian Mbappe backheel. It was a sign of relief for the former Barcelona man as he celebrated with his heart and soul showing the end of the long awaited goal from him since joining the French giants this summer.
Early Lead
Paris Saint Germain took the lead in the 8th minute through Iddrisa Gana Gueye. The Senegalese midfielder blasted an arrow of a shot into the right top corner after a missed kick off Neymer following a nice pass from Kylian Mbappe
Manchester City came close to level up the score after Raheem Sterling’s header came off the crossbar. Bernardo Silver was just in place to put in the rebound but his shot also came off the woodwork.
Messi’s Goal
Mauricio Pochettino’s men got their second goal of the night after move started by Lionel Messi. The little magician made a ran from midfield and finished it off beautifully after a link up play with Mbappe. He still awaits his first league goal in a PSG shirt.
It was a thrilling game from both teams but the PSG defence stood the test of time against Pep Guardiola’s team. Ashraf Hakimi was also superb against England’s most expensive player Jack Grealish who had a frustrating night. The £100m signing made less impact on the game as he was taken off for young talent Phil Foden.
The game ended 2-0 in favour of PSG after a one all draw in their opening game against Club Brugge.
