The Chiefs and people of Agotime-Afegame a town located in the Agotime-Ziope District of the Volta Region, are appealing to the powers that be to, as a matter of urgency, bring back to site the contractor working on a nine and half kilometre urban road that links the community to the district capital, Kpetoe and its neighbouring communities.

Details have emerged that the contractor left the site since 2017 with no apparent reason. According to the people, the road becomes dangerous and unmotorable during the rainy season. They also reveal that portions of the road continue to develop potholes and becomes muddy with collapsing culverts.

Some motorists who shared their experiences revealed that, the current state of the road is causing damage to their vehicles and making driving on the stretch very difficult and stressful.
At a press conference held on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 to make known their grievances, Nene Mahumansro XIV, the Chief of the area noted that, the current state of the road is affecting their economic activities, encouraging rural-urban migration and hindering the development of the area.

Mr. James Afanu who read the petition on behalf of the Chief further revealed that, unavailability of potable water is another challenge they are battling with in the community. He said a community water project which was awarded has been abandoned for some years now. The situation, he confessed, is compelling the residents to depend on Tordze river as a source of drinking water.

The Chief revealed that incessant calls made to the authorities on several occasions to help ameliorate the situation have proven futile. He is therefore calling on the government to come to their aid by completing the two projects started in the community.
