Meet Keeny Ice, Volta Region’s Buzzing Rap Gem making waves.

The trick is to start like everyone else but gravitate to the top when the desire to succeed has become a daily routine. The story of our Celebrity today has confirmed that there is really time for everyone’s talent to blossom no matter how long it takes. 

Known in real life as Barnabas Amu, aka Keeny Ice, the rapper was born in Aflao, one of the business oriented cities in the Ketu South District of the Volta Region of Ghana. 

The Ghanaian rapper whose Hip- hop/Hiplife niché has become the talk of town began his rise to stardom at a tender age. His moments in Modestus International and Three Town Senior High School at Denu have been on the lips of his compatriots who knew him. His knack for success and the inspirations derived from the appearances made during entertainment programmes have nurtured and given him enough ammunition to pursue music after school. 

Keeny is a game changer as far as HipHop/Hiplife genres of music are concerned. His rich blend of the native language ‘Adza’ with English to communicate is nothing short of expectation. He has been able to churn out works that are insightful and  refreshing to the soul. 

Due to his hard work and dedication, he earned five nominations and subsequently winning three of them at the 2018 Volta Music Awards. He has picked up back to back awards at the Volta Music Awards from 2018 till date. His work was also recognized at the 3rd TV Music Video Awards in the year 2019. 

The award winning artiste has recorded songs with renowned Ghanaian artistes such as Edem and Kofi Kinata. In all, he has about thirty songs credited to his name. Notable amongst them are Adam and Eve ft Castro, Aflao border boy (Mixtape), Dance fever ft Edem, Hail Mary, Alhaji, Flowmatics , Move ft Kofi Kinaata and Gankivi. 

To start the year on a flying note, Keeny Ice has released his debut EP christened ‘Border Vibes’. The much talked about work of artistry has been making waves on the media landscape ever since it was debuted. What he sought to do was to tell the real life and music struggle story inspired by some nostalgic feelings from the past as a child. 

He revealed to the team at rymcitigh.com that he runs KICA Foundation, an NGO that encourages the teaching and learning of Creative Arts in Basic schools. It has always been his desire to give back to the society that has made him who he is today.
