
Amanda Foundation, a non-governmental organization that seeks to break the vicious cycle of poverty, create a sustainable society and restore hope through charity, has donated some items to the students of Aflao Senior High Technical School located in the Ketu-South Municipality.

The well organized programme which brought together the opinion leaders as far as teaching and learning is concerned was to provide some learning materials and also support the girls with sanitary pads to enable them feel comfortable during their monthly flow.

In his welcome address, the Assistant Headmaster-Academic, Mr. Promise Ahiawu, who deputized on behalf of the Headmaster, welcomed the Amanda Foundation to the school. He expressed the optimism that the programme would serve its purpose at the long run. He charged the students to pick the useful lessons and be guided in their decisions.

The founder of the Amanda Foundation, Dr. Nhyira, thanked the management of the school for the warm reception. He revealed that it has always been the strength of the foundation to embark on a mission to build a blue planet where all children and adults enjoy equal rights to education, liberty, food, protection, free from torture, poverty, violence, discrimination, stigmatization and other social problems.

She promised that as far as the Amanda Foundation is in existence, the surety to complement government’s efforts to provide access to quality health care services, education and infrastructure would be enhanced drastically.
She further admonished the students to take charge of their own destinies and lead a chaste life since there are opportunities available for them to take advantage of. The female students were also told to flee from habits that would lead to the truncation of their dreams.

There was also a talk on the topic “MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS AND PERSONAL HYGIENE”. The students were charged to do away with lifestyles that would affect them mentally. They were also told to maintain good personal hygienes to avoid giving off bad odour as teenagers. Some other speakers on the day gave solidarity messages to the students.
The Chief of Aflao-Agblekpui, Torgbui Dugo Dzisah and Torgbui Ahiabli Agbetsikor graced the occasion with their entourage.

Various learning materials and sanitary pads were donated. The students also performed dance choreography to entertain the gathering.
The school which was officially opened in 2022 now has a student population of over three hundred. Courses offered are General Art, Visual Arts, Business, Agricultural Science, General Science and Home Economics.
