
The International Day of the Girl-Child was commemorated by Nneka Youth Foundation in collaboration with the National Association of Public Health Students -Ghana.

Over four hundred and fifty (450) junior high school students from seven (7) schools in the Have South Circuit in the Afadzato South District, were taken through Mental Health and Breast Cancer Awareness and screening.

The Girl-Child Officer of the District, Madam Janet Esi Hammond said the areas dwelt on were very appropriate considering the theme for the day:
“Invest in girl’s right: our leadership, our wellbeing”, and the challenges girls go through.

The School Improvement Support Officer, Mr. Dzansi of the circuit said he was very privileged to have his learners benefit from such great lessons and all the other refreshing educational programs Nneka Youth Foundation runs.

The Health professionals interacted with the learners on Breast Cancer and how early detection could save lives. They offered breast screening for the girls as well. The learners were also taken through Mental Health Awareness and its significance on society. The seven (7) schools present all benefited from Nneka Education Logistics Support Scheme.
